The Only Thing to Fear
"We have more to fear from terrorism than we do from this Patriot Act," Frist warned.
Hmmm, shall we look at history or take Frist's word for it?

am i ever psyched to read in the washington post today that our very own Professor Yoo also wrote the memo helped design the NSA domestic spy program that only 4 people knew about in the upper reaches of our govt. sweet. didn't they give the good stuff to anybody else at the justice dept. did they know all along they were really going to stick it to our beloved teacher?
NSA = No Strings Attached?
Too much CL.
yo armen,
do you know what the percentage passage rate for boalt on the bar this year was. i hear its 83%... which is quiet sad.

I was only able to dig this up (hat tip: One of GG's million blogs). I couldn't find school specific information on there. But it is amusing to see non-ABA accredited schools average 26%.
Why is 83% "quiet sad"? Considering the overall passage rate, and that Boalt doesn't teach to the test whatsoever, that's pretty damned good.
What's the rate for other schools?
I'm pretty sure Boalt is #1 for percentage of students who pass the Cal. Bar. By the way, Stanfurd's ex-dean, Kathleen Sullivan, just failed the bar.
Makes me kind of suspicious of the soundness of her arguments that form the basis for her enthusiasm for opposing campaign finance reform. See http://www.law.stanford.edu/library/campaignfinance/kms.statement.pdf.
While our bar passage rate I'm sure is quite high compared to any school in this state, I really don't think it's no. 1. Stanford is historically at 90% or above. See ABA sheet.
Here is the Boalt sheet -

It looks like Stanfurd beat Boalt by 1% in '03 (92% v. 91%), which must have been a fluke.
83% isn't sad if its in the range with StanTURD and FUCLA. but i was lamenting how, if the number is correct, we dropped from 88% to 83%. thats a lot!
im scurred. P might = JD, but it definitely does not equal BAR.
