A Sports Interlude

GO BLUE!!!

I can't believe those tactless Giants fans were booing as the Dodgers clinched a playoff spot. Well they have a loooooooong time to practice their boos in the off season.

Go Padres!!!!!!!!!!

There was a teacher in a LA school talking about baseball teams. The teacher asked the class, raise your hand if your a Dodgers fan. All but one of the students raised their hands. The teacher asked the student, "well if you live in LA and you're not a Dodgers fan, who do you cheer for?"

The student says, "I'm a Padres fan. My dad is from San Diego and my mom is from San Diego. They taught me to be a Padres fan." The teacher then questions the students, "Using that logic, if you're dad was a drug using street thug and your mom was a prostitute, would you follow in their footsteps?

The student looks at his teacher and says "No, then I'd be a Dodgers fan."

It's especially sweet to sweep the battery-chucking, water-hoarding NoCals at their house, celebrate on their field, and leave champagne for them to clean up.

It's our water.

As for the Padres and the Dodgers, I've always been a fan of David Wright.

Re: champagne. Fair play, you did clinch here. We'll just look forward to returning the favor.

Brilliant Dodger base-running by the way.

Wow, the Dodgers looked really good today! Tomko's brilliant infield fielding -- I liked that, well done. Thundering bats this game too, Kirk would be so proud of his lumber-lugging legacy!

Ha ha.

I wish the Giants were in it, but watching the Dodgers come apart is really almost as satisfying.

I'd rather be playing in the playoffs than watching them on TV.

Go Dodgers!

I was kind of hoping we'd have an I-5 series, or maybe a 101 series (we can then argue over the use of the definite article 'the' in its nomenclature), or maybe Fruits v. Nuts, or Fog v. Smog, or East Bay v. West LA, or Sushi v. Tacos, or a Military Town v. Anti-War Protesters series, or maybe Fake Boobs v. Fake Earnings, or Nobels v. Nicole Miller, or the Earthquake Series.

Alas, it looks like neither the Dodgers nor the Padres will comply.

Dear Dodgers. Please enjoy my orchestral arrangement of lamentations for the world's smallest violin. Understand that apparently my hatred is subsiding - I felt so much more smug seeing A-Rod on the verge of tears than on seeing the Dodgers go down (they did put up a hell of a fight tonight).

At least we all agree on one thing - the Bears rocked the Ducks. Awesome.
