They All Look the Same

Conservatives are frothing at the mouth that incoming House Intel Committee chair Sylvestre Reyes thought Shi'ites were part of Al Qaeda. See, here. I would just like to remind everyone that G Dub didn't know who the president of Pakistan was. That is all.

Ilya Somin has a great (non-frothy) post on this over at the Volokh Conspiracy. He reminds us that ignorance is a bipartisan issue, and reminds us of Trent Lott's marvelous observation that Shiites and Sunnis "all look the same to me."

Didn't realize I couldn't hyperlink in the comments. Crap. Go to: http://volokh.com/posts/1165794465.shtml

Do your research white man. I link to Somin's remark. You can hyperlink by using html. And my title is a reference to Lott's comment.

At this point, I think Isaac and Armen need to do a rap battle in the court yard today at 3:00. It will ease exam-time anxieties.

Get the word out. Contest at 3:00.

I'm not a fan of G Dub, seems to implicate the original G Dub too much for my taste. Can't we just call him Shrub or Dubya?

Conservatives: "You're implying we need intelligence and knowledge in a leader. Recent history has proven conclusively that Americans only want platitudes and an absolute refusal to admit fault in a leader. Oh, and that they're white and won't raise taxes."

There is a spectacular sculpture of leaves in the courtyard on the west end. Check it out. And a big thank you to whomever made it. Beauty is much appreciated this time of year.

Cravath drops the ball: Cravath announced its associate bonuses for 2006. Cravath merely matches Milbank, with the exception of the class of 1999, which comes in at $5K LESS. So much for being the trend setter let's hope S&C or Skadden take it up a notch...

Class of 2006: $30,000 (pro-rated)

Class of 2005: $35,000

Class of 2004: $40,000

Class of 2003: $45,000

Class of 2002: $50,000

Class of 2001: $55,000

Class of 2000: $60,000

Class of 1999: $60,000

Do CA associates get bonuses? If so have any firms announced?

Get a life. If you care about making as much money as possible, you are in the wrong profession. It's not too late to get an MBA.

did you and I go to the same OCIP? Because there it seemed money was a very important thing. Oh, and "prestige" (lol).

I think the more pertinent question is, Who gives a fuck about Cravath? This is the left coast homey. Tell me about O'Mel, Gibson, Latham, MoFo. Or, alternately, clerk salaries on the 9C, N.D. Cal, E.D. Cal. Or even starting salary at Alameda DA or, hell, how many potatoes you now get a week at the EBCLC. But some East Coast asshead firm? (As for those Boalties headed to NYC, well, they're dead to me already.)

I love the use of the term "homey" in an attempt to "keep it real." Only at Boalt and perhaps Golden Gate!

You shouldn't post so early in the morning. That was one of the lamest attempts at a cyberslam I've seen on this blog. And that's saying something!

Seriously, can someone explain how bonuses work on the West Coast?

Subtract $5K from the EC bonuses and you have the WC market.
