You've Come a Long Way, Baby
Within the next couple hours, the last of the 1Ls should be finishing the last of their first semesters' exams, and I want to offer my congratulations. I distinctly remember the feeling of wrapping up my first round of law school tests as being one of the most satisfied, relieved feelings of my life. I got drunk with my friends at a certain bar on Durant (right in the middle of the day), stumbled home, turned on SportsCenter, and fell asleep on my couch with a big silly perma-grin on my face. Good times. Savor the feeling, guys--you've earned it. Feel free to share any celebratory anecdotes.

Watching SportsCenter right now. Not as bad as everybody says - but pretty bad. And, yes, it feels good to be done.
Is anyone else having a problem "turning it off" and actually, uh, relaxing? I got home from my last final on Friday and decided it would be perfectly acceptable to lay on the couch and stare at the ceiling for 20 or 30m, but about two minutes into it, I said to myself, "I really should straighten up the apartment. And I haven't checked the mail in a few days. Maybe I should outline a to-do list for the break..." It's sick, SICK I tell you. Armen's TV link is helping, but I think I need a proactive plan for not doing anything.
I did my laundry....5 loads. I had bought new clothes in the interim because I had run out.
Boozing it tonight though!
also got to throw away those 200 (double-sided-10-point) pages of Westen memos.
There is no better feeling in the world than being finished with fall finals and having the three weeks to relax at home with family and friends and gain ten pounds on holiday food. Enjoy it now, you don't get this feeling at the end of spring because you have to start your summer job. For those 1Ls unable to relax - transfer to Stanford at the end of the year.
Watch the "dick in the box" video if you need to relax and have a good laugh. Damn, that's funny!
Sorry if this is the wrong thread to post in, but I need people to actually help me! I'm a 1L with an interview at a law firm over break (mid-size, not going to name). My interview lasts throughout the morning and concludes with lunch. What are they possibly going to talk to me about during that time? I know I should probably be familiar with my writing sample, but seriously, what else are we going to talk about? Any advice from 2Ls and 3Ls is most welcome! Thanks in advance and happy holidays!
"dick in a box" was funny as hell (biber is an f-wad!)
Hey Rooks,
The interviews are 20 to 30 minutes with different attorneys...mixbag of partners and associates usually. So there's going to be a great deal of overlap in that time. They will ask you things that are on your resume, and things like "so why this firm?" "What did you think of law school?" Anyway, just remember, the callback is to make sure your personality is a fit. So have some questions for them, if you can get a list of the attorneys interviewing you in advance so you can learn something about them. You can browse the OCIP advice threads for more.
Thanks, Armen! Much appreciated.
