The Gossip Column
An OBVIOUSLY* female commenter writes below:
Speaking of which, I hear today's bar review is at the Down Low in honor of the semi-annual Boalt-Haas-Goldman Shakedown. Nothing scandalous has ever happened at the Down Low.**
* Guys just don't give a rat's ass about Valentine's Day.
** This statement is false.
I know we're supposed to be doing our best to perpetuate the "white & nerdy" stereotype a la Weird Al, but can this blog ever discuss something interesting...like sex, for example? I want Disco Stu and Armen to post about sex. Sex in general. Or sex at Boalt (of which there is allegedly none). Whatever floats your boat. Either way, Valentine's Day is coming up and many hapless Boalties could use at least a vicarious experience. Thank you in advance.Personally, I've never gossiped on this blog. Strangely, at any moment in time, I'm sitting on tons of dirt on people. So, I'll continue to keep the vault doors shut. But that doesn't mean I can't open it up to you guys. Every so often, whenever I'm prodded to action, I'll create an open thread dedicated to "social" topics.

Are you kidding - Boalt is already enough like high school, can we avoid putting gossip on the internet?
I agree with 2:02. I trust that Armen will keep the "vault" shut, but I'd rather this blog didn't become a finger-pointing arena where we're sharing information that people may not want all over the web. We all gossip enough already - can we please not do it online?
I agree with the previous two posters. Oh, and could we also attempt to keep the blatant sexism off N&B too? I generally find the *only* people who care about valentine's day are single men preying on the insecurities of young women who have been emotionally hypnotized by Hallmark. While I wish the boys well in their hunt, I think we can all be a little honest on this blog.
I think Armen was OBVIOUSLY being sarcastic.
I'm surprised given the penchant for discussion of race/class issues on this blog that no one blogged about the NU Roberts thing.
If today's Bar Review is the Down Low shakedown thing (and let's be honest, shakedown is the stupidest name for "binge drinking" ever), then why am I seeing signs all over Boalt directing us to the Albatross Pub for Bar Review tonight?
I'm not in school Thursdays AND Fridays...so if it's the 'tross, it's the 'tross. Enjoy the 25 cent popcorn.
OBVIOUSLY female commenter here. It's quite puzzling to me how my request to discuss has has been twisted into a request to gossip. Actually, I was hoping for a frank, mostly theoretical discussion of the topic.
I agree with the person who proposed the discussion topic. A discussion of sex mores at Boalt which is careful not to identify specific people through the slighest identifying information would be most interesting.
No offense to our esteemed Nuts and Boalt Bloggers, but I think their talents would best be left to discussions of law.
Sex in the stacks: who's done it?
haven't gone full monty, but have definitely fondled and been fondled in the stacks. signed, OBVIOUSLY female commenter.
OBVIOUSLY female commenter: That's hot. Kudos.
when i was an undergrad here at CAL, some dude jizzed on some girl's head while she was asleep at the books late at night in the Moffit stacks. Daily Cal ran an article entitled, "Man Jacks in Stacks."
Why do you want DS and Armen to post on sex. DS thinks he's flattered, but not really sure he should be.
And he doesn't like the 5:34 comment that N&B bloggers don't know about the topic. He can speak for himself that he is extremely spongeworthy.
DS - because I am hoping to find a secret admirer candy gram from one of you in my locker this year. Love, OFC.
If OFC stand for 'One Fine Chick,' then you're barking up the right tree, but I think DS has eyes for one woman only...well, eyes for all women but hands, et. al. for one woman only.
Thank you, "stackerjacker," for that story. It made me laugh out loud. (and yeah, I'm a girl, and it didn't offend me)
yes, well, i'm a girl too. i just don't sleep in the library.
I happen to think SHAKEDOWN is a rather fitting (and fabulous) name for the revelry that is Thursday night "binge drinking" at the DownLow. But, you'd really only know that if you could...dance. And/or if you ever did more than just "binge drink" while you were there.
Indulge, really. It'll be good for you.
Hey Andrew 2/8/07 3:52pm,
You suck!
