Maybe it's because I've been parsing MBE questions all afternoon, but the opening paragraph of this Reuters article made me titter.
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Thieves have stolen nearly $300 million from a bank in Baghdad, police and a bank official said Thursday, in what is probably one of the biggest thefts in Iraq since the 2003 war to topple Saddam Hussein.Tell us how you really feel, Reuters journalist!

I don't get it.
I think it's a joke about the invasion of Iraq being a theft. Hence this robbery being the biggest theft since the invasion.
"Since the invasion" is a convenient journalistic benchmark, however, because it's been easier to get news from Iraq since then than it was before. There may have been mad heists under Saddam, but we've no way of knowing.
Like 9:55, I was a bit puzzled by this post. I just didn't even consider the snide possibility. But in any event, just before the invasion, $1 Billion was stolen from the Iraq Central Bank by Saddam. To this date, that stands as the biggest bank heist. I just figured it was a shorter way of saying this is the biggest bank heist since the biggest bank heist.
