Michael Vick and the Bar Exam
Just heard on PTI:
"The seriousness arises out of the conspiracy charge. A conspiracy is an agreement. The government has to prove that there was an agreement and one act in furtherance of the agreement. And then all co-conspirators are held liable for each other's actions. So even if Vick wasn't at the dog fight or he didn't kill a dog, he would be responsible for the actions of another co-conspirator. Very, very serious."
After hearing that I had a little impropmtu crim law review session by thinking to myself, the gov't must also show an intent to enter the agreement and that Vick is only liable for those actions that are both reasonable and foreseeable and in furtherance of the conspiracy.
And I thought by watching a little TV I could escape the bar.

PTI is by far the best sports show on T.V. these days...
That is when both Kornheiser and Wilbon are in the house
DS- I just finished watching that during a supposed study break too. At least it was an excellent interview.
You heard it here first, Mike Vick has fallen off of my big board for fantasy football.
Not as bad as UCC-2 Dominos.
Ok, so I haven't gotten off the couch in an hour and I'm so pathetic I am rewatching the PTI replay on ESPN 2.
Another great quote from the show, although it has nothing to do with the bar: "No matter how sweet personal life is, it can't be compared to the exultation of capturing glory for one's nation." The Chinese government issued that statement because Yao Ming was planning his wedding instead of practicing with the Chinese men's basketball team.
I'm one step ahead of Yao because I know bar stuyding and practicing with a national team come before wedding planning.
Disco Stu is getting married? To whom?
I had the exact same reaction reading about this stuff last night.
Is it bad I was happy when I heard Vick was indicted? Normally I don't care about this stuff one way or the other--I'm only interested as a sports fan, really.
And not to convict him without any evidence, but if all this stuff does turn out to be true, I hope they throw the book at him. If he really did even 10% of the stuff I've read about, I hope he rots. Usually when athletes get in trouble, it starts with a bang but ends with a whimper (see, e.g., Kobe). If Vick did any of this stuff, I hope he gets the same treatment he (allegedly) gave to a dog who lost a match.
And Willie, Vick's off my Board too, but Joey "Joey" Harrington is shooting up.
This is getting creepy--right after I wrote that, I go to do a Con Law essay, and the first sentence of the question says: "State law makes it a felony to either promote a dogfight or knowingly attend a dogfight."
That is eerie.
