Shallow Al

I returned from Europe late last week not particularly eager to discuss anything remotely legal. But the resignation of AG AG is too big to avoid. Like in many other situations, my thoughts are captured much more eloquently by someone else. In this case, the words of Prof. Balkin sum things up rather nicely: "He abused his office for political gain, repeatedly misled Congress under oath --and probably out and out lied on more than one occasion." The thing is, this Admin probably thinks he did everything right.

Unrelatedly, in Rome I went off on a Quebecois who made some sort of a snide remark about American politics. In a very impolite way, I replied that Canadian politics is so irrelevant I don't know enough to even mock it.

Interesting timing. And what a delicate balancing act the President must have considered: continued pummeling by the Dems and talk of impeachment through the 2008 election v. all the other illegal shit that may come to light in confirmation hearings for a new AG or independent prosecutor proceedings. Maybe they finally finished the shredding on Sunday.

Can we get a post about Idaho's Republican Senator Larry Craig. He just pled guilty to lewd conduct in an airport bathroom.

Who knew all the Republicans would turn out to be gay?

Does anyone know how the curve works in classes like criminal trial practice, trial advocacy, mediation, negotiations, etc. where it shows up as a "seminar" and is around a dozen students?

Go to http://www.law.berkeley.edu/students/registrar/academicrules/ and look under GRADING RULES AND POLICIES Section 1(E). The table indicates that for a 12 student seminar, the normal amount of HH or H grades + 4 is allowed.

But is also says something about writing a paper of 30+ pages, which would only include like 2 classes.
