i took some photos, too, which you can find here.
My favorite sign was "You keep your burka, I'll keep my clitoris!" The woman definitely swaggered around like a hillbilly actually.
I don't understand that sign. Was it a rail against Muslim women for wearing burqas? If so: (1) I thought African tribes circumcised their females, not necessarily Muslims, and (2) how are Muslim women involved in this in the first place? They didn't pass the resolution against Marines or, on the flip side, don't support the war or the use of American troops to fight it. To quote Johnny Cochran in South Park, "This does not make sense."
Also, that woman was walking around with a USMC sweatshirt on, which led me to believe she was for the Marines and against the City Council's action. If that's the case, the sign makes even less sense. Did she think that because Berkeley wanted to stop the war it was becoming Muslim and thus would hand out burqas to citizens? If so, it hardly seems likely Berkeley would also be in favor of female circumcision.
Or, 2:35, did you like the sign because the woman was a moron who got her causes confused?
2:25 here. I like anything that doesn't make sense and makes me uncontrollably exclaim "what the fuck is that?"
7:46, you are thinking waaay too hard about this. None of them put rational thought into the signs. They're funny because they don't make sense. The people who made them based the quotes on stereotypes, ignorance, and a whole lot of stupid. You just can't rationalize stupid. Or, as Ron White would say, "you can't fix stupid."
