Really? The Claim . . .
I am long-time fan of the NY Times' Health section column, "The Claim: . . ."
This week's piece is no let-down. While we have always heard about the dehydrating effects of caffeine, studies suggest suggests moderate amounts of coffee are only as dehydrating as moderate amounts of . . . water!
Sip, sup and swallow with peace of mind, my friends. Your kidneys will be just fine.

Yeah, but the study didn't factor into the behavioral effects of coffee drinkers. Look around a morning class. Do you see people sipping water at the same rate that coffee drinkers are gulping their brew? So, maybe it's not a diuretic...people just drink a lot of it.
That makes sense.
The studies also used coffee, and not espresso. More powerful drinks (like that 8 oz quad cappuccino I love so dearly) might produce very different results.
