Heller's Hell

You know you're in bad shape when even the local newspaper picks up on the fact that you're a sinking ship. Ouch.

But, where shall all of those attorneys go? See here.

-----

Update: Goodbye Heller - it's all officially over now.

Meh.

Where shall all the legal assistants, file clerks, delivery people, IT techs, janitors, etc. go? The support staff, which grossly outnumbers the lawyers, would love to be standing in the shoes of any Heller attorney this week.

If any of you were worried about landing a six figure salary straight out of law school during a downturning economy, imagine looking for ANY job as a receptionist right now. That's where the story of a "struggling law firm" becomes genuine.

Yeah the attorneys will be fine. Even when Brobek (see Room 105) imploded, most of the attorneys ended up getting absorbed by other firms, quite a few by Morgan Lewis. The rumor mill has it that a dissolution vote is next week.

Won't someone please think of the poor real-estate tycoons who have to fill the empty office space?

Just because the attorneys will have jobs doesn't mean us incoming summers, your former classmates, will get them. Most firms I have spoken to (and the departing shareholders confirmed) said that the first year classes are full and firms aren't willing to take us on.

By the way, dissolution is official and it seems to be set for friday.
