You've Been Served
Via Facebook?

Evidently if you live in Australia:
The Australian Capital Territory Supreme Court last Friday approved lawyer Mark McCormack's application to use Facebook to serve the legally binding documents after several failed attempts to contact the couple at the house and by e-mail.

When I saw that article earlier today I immediately had horrid flashbacks to last night'sCP II takehomet:
Rule 4 allows service by the applicable rules where where the defendant is found? But does that apply to foreign states, too? Should I dig my outline out of the trash and look this up? What does it mean to be found on facebook? If I am a member of the Australia "network" am I found there? Could I then be subject to US district service, by way of facebook and my Australia network? On the other hand, wouldn't fail "reasonably calculated" test and due process? If you have contacts over a highly interactive site like facebook (where you can do terribly harmful things like, *ahem* fuck up AJD for an entire class of Boalties) then maybe you should be subject to service there? Still, isn't this weird? Has the whole world gone crazy?
. . . but then I remebered that it is now winter break! So f- it. Let's go bowling.
On a side note from my vantage point at halfway through law school I can only assume that something magical is going to happen in the next three semesters, because right now I still don't know beans about practicing law.
I think the big thing you learn next summer is that real lawyers don't know beans about it either. Plus most of them are stupid. So you are good.
It's spelled Australia. What is this, ATL?
Ha. Good catch.
That's what I get for throwing a post up without much sleep. Makes me wonder what that 24-hr take home ended up looking like...
is it true that notorious boalt withdrew???
