New Student Center: Reactions and Thoughts
The new student center is [finally] open! Please use this thread to post your comments...
[For non-current students: it's the student journal office area that now resides in the west basement.]
Access to the student center is limited to law students only - controlled by our student ID cards. Students can enter the student center only by "the double doors across from 12 & 14 (wheelchair accessible) by holding your card up to the card reader near the entry."
Anyone else think the administration should start expanding use of this technology to other areas of the school? How about the north addition library reading areas? Other thoughts?

Extend it to the bathrooms.
The email left me confused. Is the new student center open to law students, or law students who are also on journals? I am one, but not the other.
I believe the center is open to all law students, and the individual offices to their corresponding journal members. I was asked to send in a membership list for my journal last week; I assume that's the reason.
Anybody know when the landscaping outside of the Student Center is suppose to be finished?
Are there parts of the student center that are not journal space? If the center is open to all students but the journal offices only to their members, do non-journal students just get access to the hallways? I'm still confused.
1:59,
Perhaps it's better we not go there. But if you must know, the West Terrace is slated to be finished in "early 2009".
There are public study areas just inside, which are quite nice. Otherwise, it is mostly office space, but there is at least one room for reservations and general use (which is currently locked).
Go check it out.
Anyone else internally chuckle that the ACS & Federalist Society share an office?
For that matter, that the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim student groups share an office?
*worst.grammar.ever.
Hah. The Jerusalem Room.
More seriously, I think that used to be the case before.
Speaking of, when my crim class went to visit Duel (Dual?) Prison last year, they had two chapels: one christian and one jewish/muslim. Always thought that was funny. Prison, after all, is a place where people come together.
There are some parts -- the front section of couches and chairs and a few study desks -- that are open to all students regardless of group membership.
As far as I know, the administration is praying hard that the West Terrace will be complete by May graduation... it's to be our courtyard substitute.
There's also a common kitchen area. I just looked at it quickly, but I assume that is open to everyone.
Very classy looking. I hope it ages well.
Widespread reports of ID Card Fail, especially when entering the individual offices. My card failed to access my journal's office, and I'm an EIC... Anyway, should you encounter a similar problem, you can solve it by filling out a form in student services.
