They Took Our Briefs!!!

I'm seething mad. Looking at this post on ATL, it's blatant that UPenn is ripping off our Boalt Briefs. Even the layout. Ugh.

I guess this is as good a time as any to unveil this Google group I have created hosting prior years' Boalt Briefs. I think every Boaltie, past and present, should read them. I am also missing a lot of them. I've begged and pleaded with the founders and other "editors" for the issues they have saved, but let's just say these people are not exactly "organized" in any sense of the word. The Volume-Issue numbering gives you a sense of that. So, if you have any issues, please consider PDFing me a copy. I'd also be very grateful for just hard-copies mailed to me.

Also, what are people's thoughts about adding a link to each issue to the sidebar? Too much? Maybe a general link to the Google group?

*Bonus points if you catch the title reference.

You're very concerned about getting credit for stuff, aren't you Armen.

WTF does that mean? Credit for what precisely?

For your blog, accomplishments, etc.

Yes, it was certainly vanity that prompted to spend my time collecting these Boalt Briefs. That's right, just credit. It certainly wasn't because I thought they're hilarious and should be preserved.

Prick.

On the other hand, I think I deserve an award ceremony hosted by the King of Sweden for putting up with the juvenile anonymous comments all these years.

Clearly some understated and entirely good-natured rivalry with another law school plus the preservation of something entertaining and fun that former Boalties have put together is totally obnoxious and should be insulted. Way to call him out, 7:05. What have YOU done for me lately?

When was the last time there was a Boalt Briefs anyway? Did they give up on that?

No one really took up the reigns when the 3L's who did it last year graduated. The Briefs are dead.

Technically I think that could be a reference to two items of pop culture:

South Park: "They took our jobs!" Which I think is most likely correct.

But I'd like to think it's a reference to Animal House: "They took the bar, the whole f*cking bar!"

Armen, you're always whining and whinging about how this blog deserves credit, should win awards, etc. and always trying to get your name out there. Stop being such an attention whore.

I don't think that's true.

Armen,

perhaps 7:05 is under the misguided assumption that you actually wrote the Briefs?

I can't imagine what else s/he meant, since you weren't claiming credit for anything....

Probably. Or he's just a prick.

Caley, Southpark is right. I also had in mind the Underwear Gnomes episode, which apparently inspired John McCain's healthcare strategy. OK that last one was a cheap shot.

It's a rip off of The Onion, not Boalt Briefs. Get over yourself.

I'm the founder of Boalt Briefs. You might try Bill Bonner for old issues...he archived them all, as well as those of the PPP, which ran the year before Briefs began.

Thanks, Armen, for doing this. I'd long wondered what had become of my experiment after that scheming Jew, Martin White, got his hands on it.

Yeah, that's the dude. If I were smart enough to remember names I'd have a job right now.
