Attention Future Advocates!

Interested in moot court or trial team? Enjoy public speaking and argument? Want to share idiosyncratic and realistically unfunny inside jokes with no more than three people for the rest of your life? Like cookies?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, one of the Berkeley Board of Advocates teams might be for you. Come to their information session TODAY (Monday) at 12:45 in Room 121 to learn more about the various teams and how to try out.

Also, to the person with a degree in Blog Management from the University of Annoying who is reading this and thinking about anonymously commenting that it belongs in the BBB, I just saved you the trouble.

Hi all,

I am one of the outgoing Co-Chairs of the BOA this year. Just want to chime in to encourage everyone to tryout. The program is the absolute best way to vent your competitive spirit. Plus you learn incredibly useful skills:

If you join trial team, you learn what very few classes teach---how to speak in public and how to convince a jury of your side. You also learn evidence etc.

If you join a moot team, you will vastly improve your writing ability and learn how to smoothly present complicated legal arguments. Ever wanted to craft the perfect argument? This is the place.

ADR and Negotiations also offer something truly unique in lawschool. You get to do what actual litigators do, and reach an agreement out of court.

Travel is paid for by the school, and we visited this year (among other places):

Vienna
New York
Copenhagen
Los Angeles
Washington, D.C.
San Francisco (!)
San Diego

We went up against teams from around the country and the world. It truly was an incredible experience that I am grateful to have been a part of.

If you have any questions, come to the meeting or simply contact one of the Board members.

TRYOUTS START APRIL 20. Signup sheets will be up in the next day or so at Boalt 377.
