BCS: Time to Drop the C
The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee will hold a hearing tomorrow (Tuesday, July 7th) entitled "The Bowl Championship Series: Is it Fair and in Compliance with Antitrust Law?" It will be broadcast live on the interthigny here. Watch it, see what you think, and then call your senator's office. As for me, I think it's high time these greedy conspirators stopped gang-raping our national pastime. I'm not counting on this hearing accomplishing much, but here's hoping!
Do any of you antitrust gurus care to weigh in on this?

I do not think we should call college football our "national pastime". For one, it is confusing, because Baseball has traditionally had that moniker. Second, baseball is our national pastime.
Get real. It's been football since World War II.
As long as we're playing "proof by assertion".... soccer is the best game in the world.
"Bunch of fucking cry babies." Go back to DII.
Proof by assertion and, you know, data: http://www.harrisi.org/harris_poll/index.asp?PID=622
Armen, why did you quote that? Are you quoting something? Attribute.
I can't wait for the day when Utah stomps UCLA. I will e-laugh at you so loud your mouse will run under its pad. (Or some more contemporary computer reference.)
"I will twit the fuck out of you."
football not since WWII, but since we became a TV nation and pete rozelle guided the NFL into that era.
Fair enough. I remember hearing about a book that argued the US's favorite sports evolved along with the way they fight wars. I can't remember the details, but somehow football matched up with WWII and Basbeball matched up with the Civil War. Good times.
