Is the Book Store Open or What?

As some of you probably noticed, neither the temporary bookstore nor the normal bookstore seemed to be open today.

What's the deal with this? How will we buy overpriced books in order to support crap student groups like the Federalist Society?

Maybe you just went at the wrong time because the bookstore was open today.

You know, they have the hours posted.

Oh, James, how I hope you interview at my firm. We shall see how many Federalist jokes you make then.

When a friend tried both stores at 430, they were both closed. Don't know about the hours.

I make jokes about everyone, but it's nice to see the Federalists have skin about as thick as the BLG picket lines.

Cheap shot at the Federalist Society. How original.

Fed Soc has tons of national money, I tend to doubt they actually need the Boalt money.

I challenge James to, without using Google, describe Federalism and in particular the features he finds offensive. Unless he is that rare 1% of boalties and the rare .000001% of 1L's, he can't.

i am not a federalist nor a sensitive person, but james, this is cheap. boalt's about acceptance and unity, and your shit is uncalled for.

Dan, I would have to agree. James, in general, I think you would be amazed how many people get mad when you insult a student group, regardless of affiliation. For good reason.

I'm amazed by the people who take a harmless joke as an insult. :)

Call me crazy, but I always thought "harmless" meant no harm was caused. If you offend people, I think it is, by definition, not harmless.

Snap. Point Slam Master.

Why is Slam Master posting under two pseudonyms. Cowardice!

James, I think you are a fine addition to the team and I appreciate your vigor. Feel free to take swipes at whoever you want. I do think it's a stretch to call the dig at the Fed society a joke, though. Especially when you compare it to their entire ideology, which is hilarious.

Here's a game. Replay your comment, "How will we buy overpriced books in order to support crap student groups like []?" and try inserting the following:

boalt.org
APALSA
ACS
BHWA
ELQ
the Queer Caucus
La Raza
BLF
African American Law and Policy Report.

Then see who's laughing at your "harmless joke."

Dan & James,

Do you think California should be allowed to legalize medical marijuana?

Do you think the federal government has no business regulating abortion?

Do you think the federal government has no business trying to limit marriage to "one man, one woman"?

Do you think the federal government has no right to imprison people for criticizing the draft? To give tax preference to religious schools? To mandate a national drinking age?

All of those opinions sound in Federalism. They're not "hilarious" and they are not "crap." What is crap is shitting on a group of people at Boalt because of their political views. I suppose it is mildly hilarious that you likely don't really know what you are talking about, but your cavalier, high-nosed cockiness is far, far more offensive.

Kindly knock it off.

Haha, Patrick FTW. I don't know much about the Federalist society, but if I see a cheap joke and can somehow make it even cheaper, I'm always game.

7:05, I played that game and I chose the Federalists.

Patrick, I know exactly what I'm talking about and I identify with a lot of Federalist positions. It was a throwaway line in a post about book store hours.

There was no substance because it was a joke, not an insult, as I previously stated. I'd suggest everyone who was offended to lighten up a little.

Also, as long as we're playing the whole identity game, does it change the context of the joke to know I gave about as much to Paul in 07 as I did to Obama in 08? (And no, it wasn't $0).
