Way to Go 2009
Commenter asks for a separate thread on the just released stats on the July 2009 exam. We're at 93%, tied for 1st among California ABA law schools. Out of staters that beat us include Harvard, NYU, and Yale. All in all, great results. It also should put to rest any gloating by other schools that achieve their results through forced attrition, final exams directly replicating the bar, and courses on "the performance test." Good job, kids.
On the troubling side, the racial numbers are scary. And I wonder if the higher results overall (and at Boalt) are the result of the economic downturn and the fears of losing jobs that come along with that.

Wow, congrats class of 09!
We win the tiebreaker with Stanford because our n is higher.
Wasn't our class gift participation rate also 93 percent?
Coincidence?!
Take note stingy 3Ls!
Go 2009!
We're #1: 206/221 > 90/97. If you remember your significant figures from high school science classes, we deserve that extra digit of precision that puts us above 93%
Wow, nice.
Class of 2009: 93%
Class of 2008: 89%
Class of 2007: 82%
Class of 2006: 85%
Class of 2005: 87%
As good as I think 2010 is, 2011 and 2012 are going to blow us out of the water. I put the marks at:
2010: 90%
2011: 93%
2012: 93%
btw, it might be late in the semester for it, but this february studier (personal reasons, not a retaker) wants to tell any 3Ls to ignore the advice to "take what you are interested in, don't worry about taking bar classes." that is awful advice. at least take the MBE subject classes.
i would be seriously hurting right now had i not taken evidence! as it is, i'm hurting, but not too seriously . . .
I second 10:17 - take the MBE courses in law school. I took crim pro and evidence my last semester of law school, largely was able to skip it in barbri, and it turned out to be 2 out of 6 of the bar exam essays. Nailed them both - and it's not like it took getting HH in my classes either (cause I certainly didn't...).
I would recommend everyone take evidence and crim pro. I was glad I took an evidence class that did CA law in addition to the FRE. Wills, trusts, remedies, community property, agency and partnerships are all learned relatively easily.
Two years later and you are still smarting over USF beating Boalt, Armen? Sounds like it must have been pretty traumatic for you.

Wait, there were more men than women taking the July Bar? Why did it seem like there were 20 times more women taking BarBri -- at least when it was time to use the restrooms.
Stanford actually beat Boalt for the overall percentage - you are just counting first-time takers (93%).
But hey, if stats really make you feel this good, go to town.
Incidentally, I think the higher numbers are related to the downturn in the economy, i.e., people actually studied more.
