Murphy's Law
Looks like the Class of 2010 had the right instinct with respect to the graduation speaker - unlike Uncle Zeb (who was quoted voraciously at the Greek Theatre in May) Professor Murphy has left the building.
Congrats to her; it's our loss.

That's heartbreaking. I'm excited for her, it's an amazing opportunity. I just wish Boalt fought for her, she was amazing professor.
It's a bummer, but I bet Boalt fought pretty hard.
Fair, I don't know enough of the details.
And a typo on the above comment, *an amazing professor--I blame it on my brain being fried from all the bar studying.
It's worth noting that the new job includes a promotion; at NYU, she'll be a fully tenured professor, as opposed to a tenure-track assistant professor.
I hear that part of the move was motivated by relationship reasons (another junior academic, also seeking a tenured/tenure-track position).
In any case: mozel tof, Prof. Murphy!
First Prof I had at Berkeley and probably still the best. This is a huge loss for Boalt, but Congrats Erin!
Best prof I had at Boalt. Good luck, EM!
