Go Rays!
This has been a pretty pathetic baseball season for me. My beloved Dodgers are this close to ending up in the red Estates and Trusts casebook as a footnote in the Community Property chapter. The whole thing made me so sick, the only game I attended was at Minnesota's brand new Target Field (and much like Target the new ball park was pretty amazing...but unlike Target the prices a tad too high).
And here we are in the playoffs. On the NL side, I hate the Phillies and their fans. I loathe the Giants and their pretentiously smug fans. (Be honest with yourselves, with the "offensive" production that the team has put out, you'd be lucky to steal one game in the series against the Phillies, and that will probably because of a pitcher whose name rhymes with Mincecum).
The AL side doesn't get much better. We have the Yankees (like I need to say more). And we have the winner of Tampa Bay versus the team formerly owned by Bush 43. So that's why I'll be rooting for the Rays tonight and through the rest of the playoffs.

why "pretentiously smug"? smug about the city? that seems right. and maybe about the park, but on the other hand it is arguably the best looking and best sited major stadium in North America.
But smug about the team? The Giants are near the top of the list of major sports franchises that have gone longest without winning the championship. Their fans know that they're being tortured year-in and year-out. I don't run across any Giants fans who're smug about the team.
Maybe he means smug from the perspective of a Dodgers fan, since we THWOMPED the Dodgers this year, and weren't afraid to say it.
Hmm, bitter towards Bay Area sports much? Maybe it's because of that thirty five to seven smack down your Bruins got handed last weekend. GO BEARS!!!
I also disagree on the smug fans. We're coming into this series a clear underdog, especially with our lack of offensive production. Our pitching staff, which is epic, is going to need some help in a big way. I'm very nervous for Saturday and I get the sense I'm not alone in that regard.
But regardless of the outcome, this season has been an awesome ride.
Caley, I have said it before, and I will say it again: nobody likes you.
Beat LA.
Oh, we did that already?
Cool. *smug*
I'm just glad I don't have to watch any more games in Atlanta and listen to that ridiculous faux "native american" chant they do. As a pretensiously smug San Francisco Giants fan, I found it very non-PC.
Rangers advance in the post season for the first time ever!
As a Rangers fan I am very happy that you no longer have a team to root for in these playoffs.
umm... Go Cubs?
Also, I like Caley. But I don't like YOU, cowardly anonymous 4:06.
Don't take it so hard 4:06 PM, your Bruins will always have that inexplicable win over Texas to remember this season. However, they are about to be destroyed in Eugene this weekend. Good luck with that.
Seriously about the ATL announcers. Although, even with the references to "erras" and utter butchering of last names (especially "Sahn-chez"), I still have to say, they were slightly better than the useless announcers on Fox Sports. I wish Krup and Kuip just announced every game.
Those announcers were the TBS national guys, not ATL. Unless I am wrong and Erras is a southern accent...
Armen could also be enraged by the 35-0 lost to that other Bay Area team a few weeks back. Just saying. There's so much an LA fan has to be enraged about these days. Thankfully.
Caley - I am not a Bruins fan. However, you are a complete douchebag. You have an enormous ego rivaled by nearly none in this a profession where it is all too common. That's it. No issue with the Bruins. Go ahead and trash them all you want. You are still an ass hat.
