Then And Now

I wanted to piggy-back on James' post below regarding the New Addition by linking to this Flickr slideshow.  For alumni who have not seen the school since the addition, the transition is breathtaking (in a good way).  To put in perspective, here is a picture of what Boalt looked like before, though don't be fooled by the sight of those trees...they stank!

I mourn the loss of the stinky trees. WHERE WERE YOU THEN, TREE-SITTERS?! WHERE WERE YOU WHEN OLD STINKY NEEDED YOU MOST?!

To be fair, the trees only stank for the part of the year when they were in heat.

In any case, the improvements look nice. They really do. I haven't seen them in person, but they seem to give Boalt a 21st-century law school feel that was sorely lacking.

Yet, I, for one, mourn not only the loss of the (sometimes) stinky trees, but also that patch of grass that gave you the feeling almost like you were sitting in a park between classes. I don't see how a raised concrete slab, however sleek looking it may be, can replicate that.

Patrick, how much do you love that they set up Zeb so that you can only line up in the right direction?

Is it just me, or is the wavy look going get really old in a few years? Wavy benches on the roof. Wavy seats inside. Too wavy!

those trees stank. but i remember years ago when some students held a simulated lesbian wedding on that courtyard, to help people visualize the future of marriage in California. very nice setting for it. it seemed a little bit wacky at the time but, hey, in retrospect they were just a little ahead of the game (i hope!). and who can forget the endless keggers with "Dean Prosser" somehow knowing exactly when the beer would be tapped?

Boalt looks fantastic! I'm only sad that I graduated before this major reformation.

Wait, why have we not had any simulated lesbian weddings?

I don't know if this is a major "reformation" up there with Martin Luther's 95 theses, but yes it is a significant transition.

Whoever made the wine club turn off the music in Zeb today is an asshole.

Did anyone else get a feedburner email about subscribing to an LRAP blog? Is this real or is it junk?
