Warren Reigns (No, not that Warren)
The headline news is Obama's victory. The below-the-fold news worth watching is Warren's.

It should also be noted that Jerry McNerney handily defeated Boalt '12 Ricky Gill, the 25 year old running with his parents' money for Congress. Guess he'll be part of our unemployment stats.
It was actually a close race, by congressional standards. Also, Ricky was not running with his parents' money, but with a lot of support of the businesspeople of his district. Since this is a blog for a top law school, you can leave your partisan vitriol and misrepresentation of facts to your facebook news feed.
I wonder if 10:55 is referring to the video.
Should have included an @7:36, my bad
Gil loaned 143k to his campaign, where do you think that money came from?
Yeah, sorry, but there's no vitriol in what was written. Gill used money from his family to pay for a congressional race. Also, 8 points isn't close. He's a guy who has never had a real job and tried to buy his way into Congress.
"On October 15, 2012, quarterly reports were submitted by campaigns to the Federal Election Commission. The political blog Daily Kos did an analysis of the fundraising figures and found Republican challenger Ricky Gill outraising Democratic incumbent Jerry McNerney in the third quarter. Gill raised $727,000 and had $1,146,000 cash-on-hand to McNerney’s $523,000 in 3rd quarter funds and $1,038,000 cash-on-hand."
nI don't know Ricky but I for one think it's cool he ran. Nor does it bother me, particularly, that his parents or some other rich people gave him money. It doesn't sound like we'd agree about many of the issues, so I guess I'm glad he lost, but still, good on him for trying. At the age of 25 all I'd done was get drunk a whole bunch, and this guy's already got a law degree and has made a serious bid for Congress. Reckon that's impressive.
