OCIPin on Cristal
Because all the interviewing Boalties look so stunning, thoughts of brazen fashion statements keep me from sleeping. [Sidenote: Ladies, a camel toe suit is NEVER acceptable. Please check yourself in the mirror] As such, I am taking the time at this god forsaken hour to repost from below the firms that have made some sort of a response in alphabetical order (to prevent double posting as Phase II begins).

Mofo LA called on 16th. Which Paul Hastings office?
I'll note that Ropes & Gray did, at least, both Palo Alto and New York.
I've heard that Gibson Dunn does dinners as a callback prelude. Munger Tolles may have done something similar. [these are clearly gray areas]

So, did Gibson actually hold a dinner? People have just referred to Gibson's practice of holding a dinner in general, but no one has actually posted that a dinner was held.

cooley sf call back at 9:35 sunday night via phone. Yes, I think this is strange also.
Doesn't that make Cooley a somewhat unattractive place to work? I mean, who stays in the office till 10 pm on a Sunday night?
Rejections from Ross, Dixon Bell and Cooley in SD and Proskauer LA
does anyone know what a good, average number of callbacks is to have? how many do we really need?
"Thanks for interviewing" and voluntary race, gender, and ethnicity survey received from Wilmer Cutler NY today, even though I haven't heard one way or the other from the recruiters... which I suspect means I've been rejected given my classmates' record above. Poor form!
wilmer dc rejection via email on 10/2 nighttime.
Latham & Watkins DC callback by phone, 10/3/05.
Has anyone anything heard from Holland Knight yet?
pillsbury and latham DC callbacks 10/3 via phone
davis polk by phone, 10-3
Davis Polk - callback, 3rd Oct
Sullivan and Cromwell - callback, Sept 30
Weil Gotshal - callback, Oct 3.
oops - forgot to say that davis polk, s&c and weil gotshal were all in New York.
Sullivan and Cromwell, NY - callback was by email. Weil Gotshal and Davis Polk by phone.
mofo palo alto via phone 10/3. This may indicate that some of the earlier firms are hitting round 2 of callbacks - either because they didn't get any responses with round 1 or they didn't like the round 1 callbacks when they came into the office.
what kind of masochist entertains the idea of doing callbacks at all three: weil, davis polk and s & c nyc? if you're getting those callbacks, then you're serious hot shit and you might as well go easy on yourself and limit yourself to whatever top-of-the-vault prestige rankings firms you'd actually want to work for... leave some callbacks for the rest of us.
5:13, I'm leaving your comment in place as an example of the type of dipshit remarks that I don't want to see. OCIP sucks, and it's been stressful, but it's certainly not a zero sum game. Whoever got those call backs deserved each and every one of them and certainly does not need to worry about you "wigging out."
I think so far people have been graceously posting the callbacks because they're not worried about spiteful and resentful classmates taking cheap shots at them. I'll assume you're the exception, but if it proves otherwise, I can always turn to the delete button.
Orrick SF rejection...by phone! They got my hopes up with the blinking message light and then crushed them.
orrick just went down in my book. what kinda firm does rejections by phone. that's bordering on abusive. Callback today 10/3 from Bryan Cave - SM.
rejection from allen matkins. 10/3
How would you compare 5:13's comments to those of this person who choose to share with me that s/he had received call backs from all six or seven firms s/he had interviewed with the Monday before?
At that point, I had one.
I drank myself to sleep.
Cravath callback by phone - 10/3
7:11, I should be so lucky, still no call backs...mass mailings here I come
I agree with Armen on the issue of 5:13's comment.
Boalt students are not competing with each other for callbacks any more than they are competing with all other tier-1 law students for jobs at the top firms. A top NYC firm can come to Boalt and decide that none of the people who got screenings interviews can hold a candle to people from HYS. Alternatively, they can be happy with the batch of students at Boalt and bring back a sizeable number.
Spiting a kid for getting top callbacks and thinking that he or she took them away from you is misplaced spite. You probably didn't have much of a shot getting a callback there in the first place. Being jealous is understandable, but don't kid yourself into thinking that certain students at Boalt took your spot. It's more the case that employers come to Boalt looking for students that meet certain pre-set criteria (grades, presentation skills, maturity, drive, geographic interest, etc.). If they don't find students that meet the criteria, then they'll take fewer or no Boalt students. They likely figure they can find top kids elsewhere.
Pillsbury DC callback by phone - 10/3 afternoon
Stoel Rives call back by phone 10/3
Debevoise NY offered callbacks in the middle of the screening interview.
Weil NY also already called back.
any news on Skadden or Cravath?
Callbacks 10/3:
Kelley Drye (NY)
Garvey Schubert (Seattle)
I got a callback from Skadden LA on Friday by telephone. I'm being passed on to New York and was told I should hear from them soon.
As for Cravath... I haven't heard anything either way. Has anyone else?
ok - just read the postings above and saw that 8.15pm yesterday got a callback for Cravath by phone. Well done to that person!
anyone heard from Williams & Connolly?
And Armen - thanks for doing this.
No problem, I just haven't had the time to update the list, so for that I apologize.
Alston Bird callback 10/04 am by phone.
Still waiting to hear from Covington and Williams & Connolly. I've got to say they're really cramping my flyback week planning since I value them higher than anyone else... but if they don't call I need to find some other job.
Anyway.
Still no word.
Tom Fletcher, don't despair!
In other news, Steptoe & Johnson (DC) _offer_ by telephone, 4 October.
Just got a rejection letter from Lieff Cabraser, who I didn't even interview with! How perverse.
I for one appreciate that Orrick does rejections by phone -it's more human, and definitely ballsier.
beveridge and diamond dc 10/4
I also just received a rejection from Leiff Cabraser and did not even interview with them. How sad that they can't even check their final interview schedule before sending out mass rejections.

Quinn Emmanuel rejection.
Thanked me for interviewing with the firm and letter from interviewer says he enjoyed "meeting with you" and "genuinely enjoyed speaking with you, and appreciate your taking the time to meet with us."
The funny part is that I had to miss the interview so their interviewer who sent the letter never met with me or talked to me.
skadden rejection by snail mail. interviewed for SF; letter is on PA stationary.
which Heller office for rejection?
just got a fenwick SF callback. And only a little under 4 weeks after I actually interviewed with them. Not bad.

fun day at the mail box today! Rejections from:
Hunton & Williams (NY)

Chadbourne & Parke (NY)
SD office for Heller.
Holland Knight rejection by snail mail this weekend.
Milbank rejection from Palo Alto office. But the letter thanks me for considering opportunities in the Los Angeles office (which I didn't interview for).
Weirdest letter yet. Firm to remain nameless, to protect the innocent (me).
Paragraph 1: Thank you for interviewing.
Paragraph 2: We'd like to invite you to visit our Washington, D.C. office for more interviews.
Paragraph 3: We're sorry, but we do not intend to invite you back for an interview at our New York office (Hint: I never indicated I wanted to work in NYC.)
Paragraph 4: Please take advantage of the offer to visit D.C.
It was both a callback letter and a rejection letter, rolled into one! Oh, and they never actually "called", so I was kind of not expecting this callback... Hmm.
i got the same Milbank PA rejection but I expressed interest during the interview about working in the LA office.
