From "Heller's Hell" to "Thelen of Troy"
The first major law firm casualty in this down economy was Heller.
Word out of the SF Chronicle is that Thelen is likely next. In part, the Chron says "there's no question that Thelen soon won't exist as Thelen."
Tough words. Let us all hope everyone lands on their feet.
Who's next?!

Dissolution has officially been recommended," and management expects the firm to be gone by December." Thelen R.I.P.

TJ, might I suggest Thelen of Troy to fill in the blank?
I like it. It's done.
Why is it that of the big firms to dissolve in the wake of this crisis, they are both SF firms?
Are SF firms not as stable as other cities generally?
I know! The SF thing is strange. I graduated a few years back so don't have my pulse on what happened at OCIP - what was it like this year? Did 2Ls get jobs?
Sonnenschein is next...you heard it here first...I'd post with my name if I weren't already working at a competing firm...

So for those of us with jobs in SF this means more legal work to go around, right? There is a silver-lining to this, right?
I don't think this work from Heller will necessarily benefit associates at other SF firms. I hope this isn't a touch of gloating either. (I am a former incoming associate.)
From what I saw or was told by former shareholders, most of the partners did not have enough clout to bring their associates with them. This leads me to think that most of them, save for the IP group, didn't have a ton of work. Just a thought. I'm just happy I found another job.
I'm heartened by your success 3:41 of finding another job. Have any advice to other Heller (and now Thelen) Boalties?
congrats again
